09 अप्रैल 2022:  श्रीलंका के आर्थिक संकट ने भारतीय कपड़ा निर्यातकों के लिए तत्काल कठिनाइयां  लेकर आई हैं । लेकिन यह दीर्ध अवधि में भी फायदेमंद साबित हो सकता है। श्रीलंका से सोर्सिंग करने वाले अमेरिका और यूरोप के खरीदार भारत़ को विश्वसनीय आपूर्तिकर्ता समझते हैं।

 

कुछ भारतीय निर्यातकों को पहले ही खरीदारों से व्यावसायिक पूछताछ मिलनी शुरू हो गई है। रेडी-टू-कट कपड़ों का निर्यात बड़े पैमाने पर भारत से श्रीलंका को किया जाता है, जहां अन्य देशों में निर्यात के लिए कपड़ों का उत्पादन किया जाता है।

 

भारत परंपरागत रूप से विश्व बाजार में श्रीलंका के साथ प्रतिस्पर्धा करता है। कपड़ा उद्योग के छोटे आकार के कारण, श्रीलंका की क्षमता और बाजार भारत की तुलना में छोटी है। श्रीलंका का परिधान और कपड़ा निर्यात साल-दर-साल 23 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 2021 में 5.415 अरब डॉलर हो गया। जबकि भारत का कपड़ा और कपड़ों का कुल निर्यात पिछले वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 में 39.734 अरब डॉलर था।

 

भारत के विपरीत, श्रीलंका अपने कच्चे माल के लिए आयात पर निर्भर है। जनवरी-सितंबर 2021 के दौरान वस्त्र और कपड़ा उत्पादों का आयात 32.4 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 2.206 अरब डॉलर हो गया।

 

वर्तमान में श्रीलंका की सरकार विदेशी मुद्रा के संकट से इतनी बुरी तरह जूझ रही है कि वह पेट्रोल-डीजल और भोजन जैसी आवश्यक वस्तुओं का भी आयात नहीं कर पा रही है। भारतीय निर्यातकों के लिए भुगतान की अनिश्चितता पैदा हो गई है। उन्होंने श्रीलंकाई खरीदारों को कपड़ा शिपमेंट बंद कर दिया है।

 

निर्यातकों को पिछले शिपमेंट के भुगतान में देरी की एक और चुनौती का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। सही कीमत का अभी पता नहीं चल पाया है। लगभग 200-300 करोड़ का भुगतान तिरुपुर में ही अटका हुआ है।

 

भारतीय कपड़ा निर्यातक नए विदेशी खरीदारों को जोड़ने की संभावना रखते हैं। वे विश्वसनीय आपूर्तिकर्ताओं की तलाश करेंगे। उम्मीद है कि भारतीय निर्यातकों को अगले साल से और ऑर्डर मिल सकते हैं। विश्वसनीय आपूर्तिकर्ता की तलाश में अमेरिका और यूरोप के खरीदार भारत की ओर रुख करेंगे। विदेशी खरीदारों से पूछताछ शुरू हो गई है।

 

श्रीलंका का संकट भारत, बांग्लादेश और वियतनाम जैसे देशों के लिए एक अवसर प्रदान कर सकता है। श्रीलंका से वस्त्र खरीदने वाले अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ब्रांड इन देशों में चले जाएंगे। भारत में, उच्च गुणवत्ता और कम लागत के कारण तिरुपुर इन खरीदारों के लिए स्वाभाविक पसंद बन सकता है।

Indian textile exporters see opportunity in Sri Lankan economic crisis

09 April 2022: Sri Lanka's economic crisis has brought immediate difficulties for Indian textile exporters. But it can prove beneficial in the long run as well. Buyers from the US and Europe sourcing from Sri Lanka consider India to be a reliable supplier.

 

Some of the Indian exporters have already started receiving business inquiries from buyers. Ready-to-cut clothing is largely exported from India to Sri Lanka, where clothing is produced for export to other countries.

 

India traditionally competes with Sri Lanka in the world market. Due to the small size of the textile industry, Sri Lanka's capacity and market is smaller than that of India. Sri Lanka's apparel and clothing exports grew 23 percent year-on-year to $5.415 billion in 2021. Whereas India's total export of textiles and clothing stood at $39.734 billion in the last fiscal year 2021-22.

 

Unlike India, Sri Lanka is dependent on imports for its raw materials. Imports of textiles and textile products grew by 32.4 percent to $2.206 billion during January-September 2021.

 

At present the government of Sri Lanka is facing the crisis of foreign exchange so badly that it is unable to import even essential commodities like petrol-diesel and food. Payment uncertainty has created for Indian exporters. They have stopped garment shipments to Sri Lankan buyers.

 

Exporters are facing another challenge of delay in payment of past shipments. The exact price is not yet known. The payment of about 200-300 crores is stuck in Tiruppur itself.

 

Indian textile exporters are likely to add new overseas buyers. They will look for reliable suppliers. It is expected that Indian exporters can get more orders from next year. Buyers from the US and Europe will turn to India in search of a reliable supplier. Inquiries from foreign buyers have started.

 

The Sri Lankan crisis may provide an opportunity for countries like India, Bangladesh and Vietnam. International brands buying clothing from Sri Lanka will move to these countries. In India, Tiruppur may become the natural choice for these buyers due to the high quality and low cost.
