India calls for addressing global asymmetries in cotton sector at WTO ।। भारत ने विश्व व्यापार संगठन में कपास क्षेत्र में वैश्विक विषमताओं को संबोधित करने का आह्वान किया

जिनेवा: स्विटजरलैंड: 2025/06/17: कपास को एक संवेदनशील घरेलू मुद्दा बताते हुए भारत ने विश्व व्यापार संगठन (डब्ल्यूटीओ) के विकासशील और विकसित सदस्यों के बीच इस क्षेत्र में लंबे समय से चली आ रही विषमताओं को सुलझाने का आह्वान किया है। यह न्यूनतम स्तर से परे समर्थन के समग्र माप के लिए उनके संबंधित अधिकारों के संबंध में हैं। कृषि पर डब्ल्यूटीओ समिति के अध्यक्ष की एक हालिया रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है।

 

भारत ने विशेष सुरक्षा तंत्र और कपास के मुद्दे का स्थायी समाधान खोजने सहित लंबे समय से चले आ रहे जनादेश को पूरा करने की आवश्यकता को दोहराया है।  विशेष रूप से अगले साल मार्च में कैमरून द्वारा आयोजित 14वें मंत्रिस्तरीय सम्मेलन के मद्देनजर, एक घरेलू समाचार एजेंसी ने बताया। यह सम्मेलन डब्ल्यूटीओ का सर्वोच्च निर्णय लेने वाला निकाय है।

 

रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है, "भारत ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि कपास घरेलू स्तर पर एक महत्वपूर्ण और संवेदनशील मुद्दा है, तथा किसानों की कमजोरियों के मामले में यहां की स्थिति भी कुछ अन्य कपास उत्पादक देशों जैसी ही है, क्योंकि कपास की खेती शुष्क क्षेत्रों में छोटे और सीमांत किसान करते हैं।"

Geneva: Switzerland: 2025/06/17: Terming cotton a sensitive domestic issue, India has called for addressing the long-standing asymmetries in the sector between developing and developed members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) with regard to their respective entitlements to the aggregate measurement of support beyond the de minimis level. A recent report by the chairperson of the WTO committee on agriculture said.

India has reiterated the need to deliver on long-standing mandates, including finding a permanent solution to the issue of special safeguard mechanism and cotton, particularly in view of the 14th ministerial conference being hosted by Cameroon in March next year, a domestic news agency reported. The conference is the WTO’s highest decision-making body.

 

"India emphasised that cotton was an important and sensitive matter domestically with a situation similar to that of some of the other cotton-producing countries in terms of farmers' vulnerabilities since cotton is grown in arid areas by small and marginal farmers," said the report.
