Retail Growth Continues Steady Trajectory In August।।अगस्त में रिटेल सेक्टर की ग्रोथ की रफ़्तार स्थिर रही

 


मुंबई: 2026/0924: RAI के बिज़नेस सर्वे राउंड 74 के अनुसार, अगस्त 2026 में भारत के रिटेल सेक्टर ने पूरे देश में 10% की सालाना (Y-o-Y) ग्रोथ दर्ज करते हुए अपनी स्थिर रफ़्तार बनाए रखी। जुलाई में हुई ज़बरदस्त रिकवरी के बाद, मुख्य क्षेत्रों और कैटेगरी में ग्राहकों की स्थिर मांग से पता चलता है कि इंडस्ट्री आने वाले त्योहारों के सीज़न के लिए पूरी तरह तैयार है।


अगस्त 2026 के लिए, पूरे देश में क्षेत्रीय बिक्री की ग्रोथ 10% (पूरे भारत में) पर स्थिर रही। वेस्ट इंडिया (पश्चिमी भारत) 11% की ग्रोथ के साथ सबसे आगे रहा और अन्य क्षेत्रों से बेहतर प्रदर्शन किया। साउथ इंडिया (दक्षिणी भारत) 10% की ग्रोथ के साथ उसके ठीक पीछे रहा और राष्ट्रीय औसत के बराबर रहा। ईस्ट इंडिया (पूर्वी भारत) और नॉर्थ इंडिया (उत्तरी भारत) ने महीने के दौरान स्थिर ग्रोथ दिखाई, जिसमें क्रमशः 8% और 9% की सालाना ग्रोथ दर्ज की गई।

कैटेगरी के हिसाब से प्रदर्शन: ज़रूरी और रोज़मर्रा की चीज़ों वाली कैटेगरी ग्रोथ की मुख्य वजह बनीं, जिसमें क्विक सर्विस रेस्टोरेंट (QSR) 15% की ग्रोथ के साथ सबसे आगे रहे और अगस्त में फ़ूड और ग्रॉसरी 12% तक पहुँचे। लाइफस्टाइल सेगमेंट जैसे कि कपड़े (10%) और जूते (8%) में लगातार विस्तार हुआ, जबकि अप्रैल में तेज़ी के बाद कंज्यूमर ड्यूरेबल्स और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स 7% के आसपास स्थिर रहे।


अप्रैल के बाद ग्रोथ की रफ़्तार धीमी हो गई थी, जब यह 7% थी और मई में गिरकर 5% के निचले स्तर पर आ गई थी। तब से इसमें हर महीने बढ़ोतरी हुई है: जून में 6%, जुलाई में 8% और अगस्त में 10%। अगस्त में वेस्ट इंडिया 11% की सालाना ग्रोथ के साथ सबसे आगे रहा, जबकि पूरे भारत और साउथ इंडिया में 10%, ईस्ट इंडिया में 8% और नॉर्थ इंडिया में 9% की ग्रोथ रही।


बिज़नेस सर्वे राउंड 74 के नतीजों पर टिप्पणी करते हुए, रिटेलर्स एसोसिएशन ऑफ़ इंडिया (RAI) के एग्जीक्यूटिव डायरेक्टर और CEO, कुमार राजगोपालन ने कहा: "हालांकि अप्रैल के बाद रफ़्तार धीमी हो गई थी, लेकिन जुलाई से हमने साफ़ और उत्साहजनक रिकवरी देखी है। अगस्त का मज़बूत प्रदर्शन आने वाले त्योहारों के सीज़न के लिए एक उम्मीद जगाने वाली शुरुआत है, और अब हमारा ध्यान सीज़न की मांग को पूरा करने के लिए सही तरीके से काम करने और इन्वेंट्री प्लानिंग पर है। हालांकि भारत में घरेलू खपत की स्थिति मज़बूत बनी हुई है, लेकिन हम व्यापक वैश्विक मैक्रोइकॉनॉमिक स्थितियों को देखते हुए संतुलित और सतर्क रवैया अपना रहे हैं।"

 

Retail Growth Continues Steady Trajectory In August

 

Mumbai: 2026/0924: India’s retail sector maintained a steady trajectory in August 2026, recording a 10% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) Pan-India growth according to RAI’s Business Survey Round 74. Building on July’s strong recovery, stable consumer demand across key regions and categories indicates strong industry preparation for the upcoming festive peak.


For August 2026, regional sales growth remained consistent across the country at 10% (Pan-India). West India led regional growth at 11%, outperforming other zones. South India followed closely at 10%, matching the national average. East India and North India delivered stable growth trajectories during the month, registering 8% and 9% year-on-year growth respectively.


Category-Wise Performance: Essential and routine categories remained the primary growth drivers, with Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) peaking at 15% and Food & Grocery reaching 12% in August. Lifestyle segments such as Apparel (10%) and Footwear (8%) maintained steady expansion, whereas Consumer Durables & Electronics stabilized around 7% following an earlier peak in April.


Growth had softened after April, when it stood at 7%, dipping to a low of 5% in May. It has climbed every month since: 6% in June, 8% in July, and 10% in August. West India led the August rebound at 11% year-on-year, with Pan-India and South tied at 10%, East at 8% and North at 9%.


Commenting on the results of Business Survey Round 74, Kumar Rajagopalan, Executive Director and CEO, Retailers Association of India (RAI), said: "While momentum softened following April, we have seen a clear and encouraging rebound since July. August’s strong performance serves as a promising prelude to the upcoming festive season, and our focus now turns to precise execution and inventory planning to capture seasonal demand.
