18 अगस्त 2022: भारतीय कपड़ा उद्योग में स्थिरता की तत्काल आवश्यकता है। नई दिल्ली में आयोजित एशियन टेक्सटाइल कॉन्फ्रेंस (एटीएक्सकॉन) के दसवें संस्करण एक तकनीकी सत्र में विशेषज्ञों ने इस तरह की राय रखी।

इस सत्र के दौरान विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के विशेषज्ञों ने 'सस्टेनेबल टेक्सटाइल सॉल्यूशंस के साथ क्लीनर उत्पादन को बढ़ाने' पर चर्चा की। अजय सरदाना, अध्यक्ष और प्रमुख - रणनीति और व्यवसाय विकास, रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड (आरआईएल) ने सत्र का संचालन किया। 

उन्‍होंने कहा कि यह उद्योग को पृथ्वी पर कम प्रदुषण के साथ पर्यावरण के अनुकूल बनने की दिशा में आगे ले जाने में मदद करेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि स्थिरता कीमत के बिना नहीं आ सकती।

जीआईजेड इंडिया के वरिष्ठ पोर्टफोलियो सलाहकार फरहाद वानिया ने कहा कि स्थिरता के स्वामित्व की आवश्यकता है। कोई भी खरीदार तब तक अधिक कीमत नहीं देगा जब तक कि कुछ प्रमाणन और प्रावधान न हो। 

सुंदरम जलवायु संस्थान के कार्यकारी निदेशक मृदुला रमेश ने भी स्थिरता की प्रभावशीलता पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने उद्योग में पृथ्वी के अनुकूल प्रक्रियाओं और उत्पादन पर जोर दिया। 

कॉटन इजिप्ट एसोसिएशन के कार्यकारी निदेशक खालिद शुमान ने कहा कि मिस्र का कपास अत्यधिक टिकाऊ है। उनकी सरकार ने कुछ साल पहले वैश्विक बाजार में असली मिस्र के कपास को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक प्रणाली विकसित की है। "आज, मिस्र के कपास का एक लोगो एक खरीदार को कपास की उत्पत्ति के बारे में आश्वस्त कर सकता है," उन्होंने कहा। 

प्रशांत डेका, हेड- मार्केट एंड प्रोडक्ट, बीजी आरएमएस रीटर इंडिया प्राइवेट लिमिटेड ने भी अपने विचार व्‍यकत किए। लिमिटेड और सॉलिडेरिडैड नेटवर्क एशिया में एमएसएमई में प्रदूषण प्रबंधन के महाप्रबंधक ताथिर जैदी ने भी विभिन्न पहलुओं पर चर्चा की।

Urgent need for Indian textile sector to go sustainable, feel experts

18 Aug 2022: There is an urgent need to have ownership of sustainability in Indian textile industry. It will help in taking the industry forward in the direction of becoming environmentally friendly with lesser footprint on earth, experts said at a technical session of Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON). They added that sustainability cannot come without price.

Experts from various fields discussed on ‘Scaling up Cleaner Production with Sustainable Textile Solutions during the tenth edition of Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON) held in New Delhi. Ajay Sardana, president & head - Strategy & Business Development, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) moderated the session. He said that it was good to discuss fibre to fashion and sustainability in a single session. 

Farhad Vania, senior portfolio advisor at GIZ India, said that there was need to have ownership of sustainability. No buyers will pay higher price until there is certain certification and provision. Mridula Ramesh, executive director of Sundaram Climate Institute, also highlighted on the effectiveness of sustainability. She emphasised on earth-friendly processes and production in the industry. 

Khaled Schuman, executive director of Cotton Egypt Association, said that Egyptian cotton is highly sustainable. His government has developed a system to ensure real Egyptian cotton in the global market after certain problems came up in Britain few years back. “Today, a logo of Egyptian cotton can assure a buyer about the origin of cotton,” he said.
