India opens handloom technology centre at IIT Delhi।। भारत ने IIT दिल्ली में हैंडलूम टेक्नोलॉजी सेंटर खोला

नई दिल्ली: 05/08/2026: भारत के कपड़ा मंत्रालय ने IIT दिल्ली में 'सेंटर ऑफ़ एक्सीलेंस फ़ॉर हैंडलूम टेक्नोलॉजी' (CoE-HT) का उद्घाटन किया है। यह सेंटर देश के हैंडलूम सेक्टर को आधुनिक बनाने के लिए टेक्नोलॉजी, इनोवेशन और रिसर्च का एक प्लेटफ़ॉर्म बनेगा।

 

कपड़ा मंत्री गिरिराज सिंह ने कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि यह सेंटर भारत सरकार के उस विज़न को दिखाता है जिसमें देश की बुनाई की विरासत को आधुनिक टेक्नोलॉजी के साथ जोड़कर भविष्य के लिए तैयार हैंडलूम इकोसिस्टम बनाया जाएगा। इसमें इनोवेशन, डिजिटल टेक्नोलॉजी, सस्टेनेबिलिटी और एंटरप्रेन्योरशिप को प्रोडक्टिविटी बढ़ाने, बाज़ार तक पहुँच बेहतर करने और हैंडलूम बुनकरों की आजीविका को बेहतर बनाने के लिए ज़रूरी माना गया है।

 

कपड़ा मंत्रालय की सचिव नीलम शमी राव ने हैंडलूम सेक्टर के लिए व्यावहारिक तकनीकी समाधान विकसित करने के लिए एकेडेमिया, इंडस्ट्री और सरकारी संस्थानों के बीच मज़बूत सहयोग की ज़रूरत पर ज़ोर दिया।

 

इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान सेंटर की पाँच प्रमुख पहलें शुरू की गईं:

हैंडलूम 4.0 मोबाइल ऐप: इसे लूम की प्रोडक्टिविटी, क्वालिटी, रखरखाव और सस्टेनेबिलिटी की डिजिटल निगरानी करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।

हैंडलूम ई-विद्या: हैंडलूम इकोसिस्टम में क्षमता निर्माण के लिए एक डिजिटल लर्निंग और नॉलेज प्लेटफ़ॉर्म।

हैंडलूमX: मंत्रालय की 5F वैल्यू चेन में काम करने वाले स्टार्टअप और इनोवेटर्स को सपोर्ट करने के लिए एक एक्सेलेरेटर और इनक्यूबेशन प्लेटफ़ॉर्म।

कलागृह हैंडलूम स्टूडियो (GenZ डिज़ाइन स्टूडियो): एक ऐसा प्लेटफ़ॉर्म जो डिजिटल टेक्नोलॉजी का इस्तेमाल करके कस्टमाइज़ेशन और विज़ुअलाइज़ेशन के ज़रिए आज के ग्राहकों को असली हैंडलूम उत्पादों से जोड़ता है।

थ्रेड्स ऑफ़ वेलोर: वैज्ञानिक रीसाइक्लिंग और कुशल कारीगरी के ज़रिए रीसाइकिल किए गए डिफेंस टेक्सटाइल्स को प्रीमियम हैंडलूम फ़ैब्रिक में बदलने की एक सस्टेनेबिलिटी पहल।

CoE-HT लूम के आधुनिकीकरण, एर्गोनॉमिक्स, आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, सस्टेनेबिलिटी, फ़ंक्शनल इनोवेशन और डिजिटल टेक्नोलॉजी में रिसर्च करेगा। कपड़ा मंत्रालय ने एक प्रेस विज्ञप्ति में कहा कि यह हैंडलूम ज्ञान का एक राष्ट्रीय भंडार भी विकसित करेगा, AI-सक्षम टूल बनाएगा, टेक्नोलॉजी ट्रांसफ़र में मदद करेगा, स्टार्टअप को सपोर्ट करेगा और अगले पाँच वर्षों में कम से कम 1,000 बुनकरों, फ़ैकल्टी सदस्यों और हैंडलूम पेशेवरों को प्रशिक्षित करेगा। यह केंद्र एकेडेमिया, इंडस्ट्री, स्टार्टअप्स और हथकरघा संस्थानों को एक साथ लाता है। इससे हथकरघा इकोसिस्टम के मज़बूत होने की उम्मीद है। साथ ही, यह कपड़ा मंत्रालय के उस लक्ष्य को भी पूरा करने में मदद करेगा, जिसके तहत भारत की हथकरघा विरासत को संरक्षित करने और इस सेक्टर को आधुनिक टेक्नोलॉजी, रिसर्च क्षमताओं और इनोवेशन-आधारित समाधानों से लैस करने की बात कही गई है।

New Delhi : 2026/08/05: India's Ministry of Textiles has inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Handloom Technology (CoE-HT) at IIT Delhi, positioning the facility as a technology, innovation and research platform for modernizing the country's handloom sector.

 

The Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh addressed the gathering, saying the centre reflects the Indian government's vision of combining India's weaving heritage with advanced technologies to build a future-ready handloom ecosystem, with innovation, digital technologies, sustainability and entrepreneurship seen as important for improving productivity, enhancing market access and supporting better livelihoods for handloom weavers.

 

Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, underlined the need for stronger collaboration between academia, industry and government institutions to develop practical technological solutions for the handloom sector.

 

Five flagship initiatives of the centre were launched during the event:

Handloom 4.0 Mobile App: Designed to enable digital monitoring of loom productivity, quality, maintenance and sustainability.

Handloom e-Vidya: A digital learning and knowledge platform for capacity building across the handloom ecosystem.

HandloomX: An accelerator and incubation platform to support startups and innovators working across the Ministry's 5F value chain.

Kalagriha Handloom Studio (GenZ Design Studio): A platform using digital technologies to connect contemporary consumers with authentic handloom products through customisation and visualisation.

Threads of Valour: A sustainability initiative to transform recycled defence textiles into premium handloom fabrics through scientific recycling and skilled craftsmanship.

The CoE-HT will undertake research in loom modernisation, ergonomics, artificial intelligence, sustainability, functional innovation and digital technologies. It will also develop a national repository of handloom knowledge, create AI-enabled tools, facilitate technology transfer, support startups and train at least 1,000 weavers, faculty members and handloom professionals over the next five years, the Ministry of Textiles said in a press release.

 

The centre brings together academia, industry, startups and handloom institutions, and is expected to strengthen the handloom ecosystem while supporting the Ministry of Textiles' stated aim of preserving India's handloom heritage and equipping the sector with advanced technologies, research capabilities and innovation-led solutions.
