मुंबई: २०२३/०७/०२: मुंबई की १७ वर्षीय सोशल वर्कर लितिशा बागडि़या को ब्रिटेन के शाही परिवार द्वारा समर्थित एक संस्‍था ने उनके सामाजिक कार्यों के लिए प्रिंस डायना अवार्ड से नवाजा। लितिशा बागडि़या विले पार्ले के चतुर्भुज नरसी मेमोरियल स्‍कूल में कक्षा १२ की छात्रा हैं। उन्‍होंने पिछले दो सालों से पर्यावरण, शिक्षा, स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य, खान पान, के क्षेत्र में अभूतपूर्व काम किया है। वे दुनियां के २३ देशों के बच्‍चों को नि:शुल्‍क पढ़ाती हैं। वह पतिदिन लगभग २० घंटे सक्रिय रहती हैं।  

 

15 साल की उम्र में लितिशा बागड़िया और सिया जोशी द्वारा शुरू किया गया, आयिका फाउंडेशन एक युवा नेतृत्व वाला गैर सरकारी संगठन है जो जलवायु परिवर्तन को कम करने और जलवायु कार्रवाई आंदोलन में युवाओं की अप्रयुक्त क्षमता का दोहन करने के लिए काम करता है। अतीत में उनके द्वारा आयोजित कुछ परियोजनाएँ इस प्रकार हैं:

1. प्रोजेक्ट बीचिफाई - एक समुद्र तट सफाई

उनका पहला प्रोजेक्ट प्रोजेक्ट बीचिफाई था। 100 से अधिक स्वयंसेवकों के साथ इस परियोजना के माध्यम से, वे समुद्र तटों से 100 किलोग्राम से अधिक कचरे को पुनर्चक्रित करने में कामयाब रहे। इसमें प्लास्टिक, एमएलपी, गीले कचरे के कई रूप आदि शामिल थे। इस परियोजना के लिए उनके साझेदारों में डेकाथलॉन, लंदन बबल, एनरज़ल और द रीसाइक्लिंग कंपनी शामिल थे।

 

2. स्वतंत्रता दिवस ई-कचरा पुनर्चक्रण परियोजना

 

75वें स्वतंत्रता दिवस के शुभ अवसर पर और इस दिन रीसाइक्लिंग के उत्साह को फैलाने के लिए, उनकी टीम ने दो हाउसिंग सोसायटियों में ई-कचरा संग्रह अभियान चलाया। उनके रीसाइक्लिंग पार्टनर द्वारा 50 किलोग्राम से अधिक भारी रसायन से भरे इलेक्ट्रॉनिक गैजेट्स को रीसाइक्लिंग किया गया।

3. प्रोजेक्ट अविघ्न और बीचिफाई 2.0 - गणपति फूल पुनर्चक्रण अभियान:

 

उन्होंने विले पार्ले, सांताक्रूज़ और अंधेरी में 30 गणपति पंडालों के साथ भागीदारी की। उनके स्वयंसेवक मुंबई के उपनगरों में गणपति महोत्सव के सभी 11 दिनों में पंडाल-दर-पंडाल गए और 200+ किलोग्राम फूलों का कचरा एकत्र किया, जिसे खाद, रंगों और अगरबत्तियों में पुनर्नवीनीकरण किया गया था। इसके बाद, उन्होंने हमारे समुद्र तट की सफाई के दूसरे कार्यक्रम की मेजबानी की और गणेश विसर्जन के बाद दादर समुद्र तट और माहिम समुद्र तट की सफाई की। वे समुद्र तटों से 250 किलोग्राम कचरा साफ़ करने में कामयाब रहे।

 

4. फर के लिए फुटबॉल - जानवरों के लिए एक फुटबॉल टूर्नामेंट धन संचयक

 

अपने प्यारे दोस्तों को न भूलते हुए, टीम अयिका ने एक फुटबॉल फंडरेजर की मेजबानी की, जहां 15-17 वर्ष की आयु के किशोर फुटबॉलरों ने 20 हजार रुपये जुटाए, जिसे बाद में एक आवारा पशु कल्याण क्लिनिक को दान कर दिया गया।

 

5. प्रोजेक्ट इकोलिफ्ट - अपशिष्ट उन्मूलन माह

 

उन्होंने अपशिष्ट उन्मूलन माह की मेजबानी की। तीन-स्तरीय दृष्टिकोण में, उन्होंने रीसाइक्लिंग और उचित अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने के लिए मरीन ड्राइव में संडे स्ट्रीट्स में एक सामुदायिक सहभागिता कार्यक्रम किया। दूसरे, उन्होंने हमारे सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से प्लास्टिक के विकल्पों के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाई। तीसरा, उन्होंने शहर भर में 10 से अधिक हाउसिंग सोसायटियों में अपशिष्ट पुनर्चक्रण और जागरूकता अभियान की मेजबानी की, और 1000 किलोग्राम से अधिक कचरे का पुनर्चक्रण किया।

जारी प्रोजेक्ट

 

1. पाठ्यचर्या परियोजना

 

उनकी टीम ने एक जलवायु कार्रवाई पाठ्यक्रम विकसित करने के लिए काम किया, जिसे वे तीसरी-आठवीं कक्षा के बच्चों को पढ़ा सकते हैं। इस परियोजना के माध्यम से, वे बच्चों को व्यावहारिक, मनोरंजक और व्यावहारिक तरीके से स्थिरता के बारे में सिखाते हैं। उन्होंने लक्ष्मीनगर स्कूल में 300 से अधिक छात्रों को पहला पाठ पढ़ाया। वे वर्तमान में एमपी शाह इंग्लिश हाई स्कूल में 400 छात्रों को हमारा दूसरा संस्करण पढ़ा रहे हैं। उनके पाठ्यक्रम में अपशिष्ट पदार्थों से सर्वोत्तम प्रतियोगिताएं, पर्यावरण-अनुकूल दीया बनाना और सीडबॉल बनाना जैसी व्यावहारिक गतिविधियां शामिल हैं। डोम्स इतने दयालु थे कि उन्होंने वेस्ट आउट ऑफ वेस्ट प्रतियोगिता के विजेताओं के लिए पैकेटों को प्रायोजित किया।

2. सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से जागरूकता

 

सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता के रूप में उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी का एक हिस्सा इस उद्देश्य के महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करना है और वे कैसे योगदान दे सकते हैं। इसे पुष्ट करते हुए, उनके सोशल मीडिया हैंडल पर 1 मिलियन से अधिक इंप्रेशन हैं जहां वे जनता को जलवायु परिवर्तन के विनाशकारी प्रभावों के बारे में शिक्षित करते हैं और वीडियो और दृश्य सामग्री के माध्यम से कार्रवाई योग्य आइटम प्रदान करते हैं।

Litisha Bagadia, a social worker from Mumbai, has been honoured with the Prince Diana Award 

 

Mumbai: 2023/07/02: Litisha Bagadia, a 17-year-old social worker from Mumbai, has been honoured with the Prince Diana Award by the British Royal Family for her social work. Litisha Bagadia is a Class 12 student at Chatubhuj Narsee School Vile Parle. For the last two years, she has done unprecedented work in the field of environment, education, health, food and drink. She teaches free of cost to the children of 23 countries of the world. They are active for about 20 hours a day.

 

Started by Litisha Bagadia and Siya Joshi at the age of 15, Ayika Foundation is a youth-led NGO that works to mitigate climate change and harness the untapped potential of the youth in the climate action movement. Some of the projects held by them in the past are: 

1. Project Beachify – A Beach Cleanup 

 

Their first project was Project Beachify. Through this project with 100+ volunteers, they managed to get over 100kgs of waste from the beaches recycled. This included plastic, MLPs, a lot of forms of wet waste, and so on. Their partners for this project included Decathlon, London Bubble, Enerzal, and The Recycling Company.

 

2. Independence Day E-waste Recycling Project 

 

To commemorate the auspicious 75th Independence Day and to spread the fervour of recycling on this day, their team ran an e-waste collection drive at two housing societies. More than 50kgs of heavily chemical-filled electronic gadgets were recycled by their recycling partner. 

 

3. Project Avighna & Beachify 2.0 – The Ganpati Flower Recycling Campaign:

 

 They partnered with 30 Ganpati pandaals across Vile Parle, Santacruz, and Andheri. Their volunteers went pandaal to pandaal on all 11 days of the Ganpati Festival in the suburbs of Mumbai and collected 200+ kgs of flower waste that was all recycled into compost, dyes and incense sticks. Following that, they hosted the second iteration of our beach cleanup and cleaned up Dadar Beach and Mahim Beach after the Ganesh Visarjan. They managed to clear 250 kgs of waste from the beaches. 

4. Football for Fur – A Football Tournament Fundraiser for Animals

 

Not forgetting our furry friends, team Ayika hosted a Football Fundraiser where teenage footballers aged 15-17 raised rupees 20k that was futher donated to a stray animal welfare clinic. 

 

5. Project Ecolift – Waste Eradication Month 

 

They hosted a waste eradication month. In the three-fold approach, they did a community engagement event at Sunday Streets at Marine Drive to spread awareness about recycling and appropriate waste management. Secondly, they spread awareness about plastic alternatives through our social media. Thirdly, they hosted waste recycling and awareness drives in 10+ housing societies across the city, and recycled over a 1000 kgs of waste. 

Ongoing Projects 

 

1. The Curriculum Project 

 

They team worked to develop a climate ACTION curriculum that they can teach kids from 3rd-8th grades. Through this project, they teach kids about sustainability in a practical, fun, and hands-on manner. They taught the first iteration to 300+ students at Laxminagar School. They are currently teaching our second iteration to 400 students at MP Shah English High School. Their curriculum includes hands on activities like best out of waste competitions, eco-friendly diya making, and seedball making. Doms was kind enough to sponsor the packets for the winners of the best out of waste competition. 

2. Awareness through Social Media 

 

A part of their responsibility as social workers is to create awareness about the importance of the cause and how they can contribute. Reinforcing this, their social media handles have more than 1 million impressions where they educate the masses about the disastrous effects of climate change and provide actionable items through video and visual content.
