मुंबई: 2026/08/11: 30 सितंबर को खत्म हो रहे मौजूदा सीज़न में भारत में कपास की प्रेसिंग का अनुमान बढ़ाकर 339 लाख गांठ (170 किलोग्राम प्रति गांठ) कर दिया गया है। कॉटन एसोसिएशन ऑफ़ इंडिया (CAI) ने जुलाई 2026 की अपनी रिपोर्ट में यह अनुमान और बढ़ाया है। यह अनुमान, अक्टूबर 2025 में सीज़न की शुरुआत में जारी किए गए 305 लाख गांठ के शुरुआती अनुमान से लगभग 11 प्रतिशत ज़्यादा है।

 

अनुमान में यह बड़ी बढ़ोतरी, CAI की उस शुरुआती उम्मीद के उलट है जिसमें मौजूदा सीज़न के दौरान कम उत्पादन की बात कही गई थी।

 

अपने ताज़ा अनुमान में, CAI ने कपास उगाने वाले राज्यों के एसोसिएशन और व्यापारिक सूत्रों से मिली नई जानकारी के आधार पर फसल के आकार को पिछले 337 लाख गांठ के अनुमान से 2 लाख गांठ और बढ़ा दिया है। 339 लाख गांठ का यह ताज़ा अनुमान, 2024-25 सीज़न के लिए अनुमानित 312.4 लाख गांठ से भी 8.5 प्रतिशत ज़्यादा है। 305 लाख गांठ के शुरुआती अनुमान में पिछले सीज़न की तुलना में लगभग 2.4 प्रतिशत की गिरावट का संकेत दिया गया था, जिसका मतलब है कि सीज़न आगे बढ़ने के साथ उत्पादन का नज़रिया काफी बदल गया है।

 

CAI ने कहा कि ताज़ा बदलाव में महाराष्ट्र, मध्य प्रदेश, कर्नाटक और तमिलनाडु के लिए 50,000 गांठ की बढ़ोतरी शामिल है। निचले राजस्थान के अनुमान में 25,000 गांठ की बढ़ोतरी की गई, जबकि ऊपरी राजस्थान के अनुमान में इतनी ही कमी की गई, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप ताज़ा आकलन में कुल 2 लाख गांठ की बढ़ोतरी हुई।

 

घरेलू फसल का अनुमान ज़्यादा होने के बावजूद, CAI ने कपास आयात का अनुमान भी 60 लाख गांठ से बढ़ाकर 62 लाख गांठ कर दिया है, जबकि पिछले सीज़न में यह 41 लाख गांठ था। 31 जुलाई तक भारतीय बंदरगाहों पर लगभग 5.4 मिलियन गांठें (bales) आ चुकी थीं।

 

देश में कपास की खपत 34.8 मिलियन गांठें रहने का अनुमान है, जो 2024–25 में 31.9 मिलियन गांठें थी; वहीं निर्यात 1.5 मिलियन गांठें रहने का अनुमान है, जबकि पिछले सीज़न में यह 1.8 मिलियन गांठें था।

 

ज़्यादा उत्पादन और आयात से भारत की कुल कपास आपूर्ति बढ़कर 45.659 मिलियन गांठें होने की उम्मीद है, जो 2024–25 में 39.259 मिलियन गांठें थी। नतीजतन, CAI को उम्मीद है कि 30 सितंबर, 2026 तक क्लोजिंग स्टॉक तेज़ी से बढ़कर 9.359 मिलियन गांठें हो जाएगा, जो एक साल पहले 5.559 मिलियन गांठें था।

Mumbai: 2026/08/11: India’s cotton pressing has been revised up to 33.9 million bales of 170 kg in current season ending on September 30. The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has increased further its estimate in its report of July 2026. The estimate is around 11 per cent higher than its initial estimate of 30.5 million bales issued at the beginning of the season in October 2025.

 

The substantial upward revision marks a reversal from CAI’s initial expectation of lower production during the current season.

 

In its latest estimate, CAI raised the crop size by another 0.2 million bales from its previous projection of 33.7 million bales, following updated inputs from cotton-growing state associations and trade sources. The latest estimate of 33.9 million bales is also 8.5 per cent higher than the 31.24 million bales estimated for the 2024–25 season. The initial estimate of 30.5 million bales had indicated a decline of around 2.4 per cent from the previous season, meaning the production outlook has changed considerably as the season progressed.

 

CAI said the latest revision included increases of 50,000 bales each for Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Lower Rajasthan was revised upwards by 25,000 bales, while Upper Rajasthan was reduced by the same amount, resulting in a net increase of 0.2 million bales in the latest assessment.

 

Despite the higher domestic crop estimate, CAI has also raised its cotton import projection to 6.2 million bales from 6 million bales, compared with 4.1 million bales in the previous season. Around 5.4 million bales had already arrived at Indian ports by July 31.

 

Domestic cotton consumption is projected at 34.8 million bales, up from 31.9 million bales in 2024–25, while exports are estimated at 1.5 million bales, compared with 1.8 million bales in the previous season.

 

Higher production and imports are expected to lift India's total cotton supply to 45.659 million bales, compared with 39.259 million bales in 2024–25. Consequently, CAI expects closing stocks to rise sharply to 9.359 million bales by September 30, 2026, from 5.559 million bales a year earlier.
