मुंबई के ऐतिहासिक खादी एम्पोरियम पर खादी उत्पाद बेचने पर प्रतिबंध । India's oldest Khadi Emporium banned from selling Khadi products

 

मुंबई: 2022/02/19: खादी और ग्रामोद्योग आयोग (KVIC) द्वारा नकली खादी उत्पादों की बिक्री के लिए 'खादी एम्पोरियम' पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया है। यह लगभग सात दशक पुराना 'खादी एम्पोरियम' है। यह खादी उत्पाद बेचने वाली देश की सबसे पुरानी दुकान है।  शनिवार को KVIC ने एक आधिकारिक बयान में कहा गया।

 

केवीआईसी ने नकली या गैर-खादी उत्पादों की बिक्री के खिलाफ "शून्य सहिष्णुता" की नीति अपनाई है और "सबसे पुरानी खादी संस्था" के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की है।

 

खादी और ग्रामोद्योग आयोग (KVIC) केंद्रीय सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यम मंत्रालय के अधीन है।

 

केवीआईसी ने पाया कि डॉ डीएन रोड पर उक्त खादी एम्पोरियम असली खादी की आड़ में गैर-खादी उत्पाद बेच रहा था। केवीआईसी के अधिकारियों ने नियमित निरीक्षण के दौरान एम्पोरियम से नमूने एकत्र किए, जो गैर-खादी उत्पाद पाए गए।

 

 

 

एम्पोरियम की स्थापना 1954 में हुई थी। यह कपड़े, फर्नीचर, प्रसाधन सामग्री और अन्य हस्तशिल्प सहित कई खादी उत्पादों को बेचता है। यह खरीदारों के साथ खादी के लिए पसंदीदा बना हुआ था।  यहां पर लिनन ब्रांड के लिए समर्पित निजी लेबल भी बढ़ गए हैं। डॉ डी एन रोड पर स्थित एम्पोरियम अपने वर्षों पुराने अस्तित्व के कारण अपने आप में एक मील का पत्थर रहा है।

 

 

KVIC  ने मुंबई खादी और ग्रामोद्योग संघ को भी कानूनी नोटिस जारी किया। यह आयोग द्वारा जारी "खादी प्रमाणपत्र" और "खादी चिह्न प्रमाणपत्र" के मानदंडों का उल्लंघन करने के लिए एम्पोरियम चला रहा था।

 

खादी एम्पोरियम एक वास्तविक खादी आउटलेट नहीं रहा। अब एम्पोरियम से खादी उत्पाद बेचने की अनुमति नहीं है। पंजीकरण रद्द कर दिया गया था।

 

केवीआईसी ब्रांड खादी की विश्वसनीयता और लोकप्रियता का दुरुपयोग करके जनता को धोखा देने और आपराधिक विश्वासघात के लिए MKVIA के खिलाफ कानूनी कार्रवाई पर भी विचार कर रहा है।

 

 

MKVIA को 1954 में "सख्त शर्तों" के तहत KVIC के संचालन और प्रबंधन के साथ सौंपा गया था कि यह केवल वास्तविक उत्पादों को ही बेचेगा। लेकिन देर से ही सही, इसने नकली खादी उत्पादों को बेचकर अनुचित व्यापार प्रथाओं में शामिल हो गया था। इस प्रकार यह उन लोगों को धोखा दे रहा था जिनकी यह धारणा थी कि यह एम्पोरियम केवीआईसी द्वारा चलाया जा रहा है।

 

केवीआईसी ने अब तक 1,200 से अधिक ऐसी संस्थाओं को कानूनी नोटिस जारी किए हैं, जिसमें आईपीओ-बाउंड रिटेल ब्रांड फैबइंडिया से "खादी" ब्रांड का दुरुपयोग करने और गैर-खादी उत्पादों को "के नाम से बेचते थे। उनके खिलाफ 500 करोड़ रुपये का हर्जाना का भी दावा किया गया है। दुकानदार ने इसे बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट में चुनौती दी गई है।

 

केवीआईसी ने पिछले साल ऑनलाइन शॉपिंग पोर्टल - अमेज़ॅन, फ्लिपकार्ट और स्नैपडील को भी 140 वेब लिंक को हटाने के लिए मजबूर किया जो गैर-खादी उत्पादों को "खादी" के रूप में बेच रहे थे।

 

कई उल्लंघनकर्ताओं ने माफी मांगी और भविष्य में "खादी" ब्रांड नाम का उपयोग नहीं करने का वचन दिया।

India's oldest Khadi Emporium banned from selling Khadi products 

 Mumbai: 2022/0219: Mumbai's 'Khadi Emporium' has been banned for selling fake Khadi products by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). It is a nearly seven-decades-old 'Khadi Emporium.  It is the oldest khadi emporium in the country. A official statement said on Saturday.

 

KVIC, has adopted a “zero tolerance” policy against sale of spurious or non-Khadi products and took the action against the "oldest Khadi institution.

 

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

 

KVIC found that the said Khadi Emporium at Dr DN Road was selling non-Khadi products in the guise of genuine Khadi. KVIC officials collected samples from the Emporium during routine inspection,  that were found to be non-Khadi products.

 

The emporium was established in 1954. It sells a slew of Khadi products including clothing, furniture, toiletries and other handicrafts.  It has continued to be a favourite for Khadi with shoppers even as private labels devoted to the legacy linen brand have proliferated. The emporium on the Dr D N Road is a landmark in itself because of its years-old existence.

 

KVIC issued a legal notice to Mumbai Khadi & Village Industries Association. It was running the emporium, for flouting the norms of “Khadi Certificate” and “Khadi Mark Certificate” issued by the Commission.

 

Khadi Emporium ceased to be a genuine Khadi Outlet. It is no longer permitted to sell Khadi products from the Emporium. The registration was cancelled.

 

The KVIC is also contemplating legal action against the MKVIA for criminal breach of trust and cheating the public at large by misusing the credibility and popularity of brand Khadi.

 

MKVIA was entrusted with the operation and management of KVIC in 1954 under “strict conditions” that it would sell only genuine products.  But off late, it had indulged in unfair trade practices by selling fake Khadi products. Thus it was cheating people who were under the impression that this Emporium was being run by KVIC.

 

 

KVIC has so far has issued legal notices to over 1,200 entities including a Rs 500-crore damages being sought from the IPO-bound retail brand Fabindia for misusing the brand name "Khadi" and selling non-Khadi products under the name of "Khadi". It has been challenged in the Bombay High Court.

 

KVIC also forced online shopping portals – Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal Last year – to take down 140 web links that were selling non-Khadi products as “Khadi”.

 

A number of violators tendered apology and undertook not to use the brand name “Khadi” in future, attributing it to KVIC's actions.
